The Boathouse Restaurant
45% independentPerched dockside on Ocean Avenue in Kennebunkport, The Boathouse Restaurant trades on its water views — a chic hotel dining room where upscale seafood and American plates arrive against a backdrop of moored boats and tidal light. It's the in-house table of The Boathouse property rather than a guest room in its own right, and locals and visitors alike have kept it busy enough to earn a 4.4 rating across nearly 900 reviews.
Why we call this independent
The name and single Ocean Avenue address read as an independent, locally rooted Kennebunkport operation with no chain signals, but Google classifies this listing as a restaurant and bar — not lodging — and the editorial summary describes it as a 'hotel eatery,' so it isn't an inn listing in its own right.
