Sea Captains House independent inns

Set in a 19th-century sea captain's home a short walk from Rockland's harbor, The Lindsey Hotel trades nautical cliché for colour and character — rooms are vibrant rather than restrained, and an on-site art gallery gives the place the feel of a small, curated house. The kitchen leans on locally sourced fare, an easy fit in a midcoast town that takes its food and its art seriously. With 96 reviews averaging 4.8, guests seem to agree the balance is right.
