Saloon independent inns

Tucked along Arnold Drive in the crossroads hamlet of Glen Ellen, this Sonoma Valley lodge takes its name from the writer who once roamed these hills. Rooms are furnished with antiques and come with free Wi-Fi, while the grounds hold a swimming pool for slow afternoons between vineyard visits. Downstairs, an old-fashioned saloon and a rustic restaurant mean dinner is only a staircase away — a setup that has earned it a 4.4 rating across nearly 300 reviews.
