Japanese Inspired independent inns

Tucked into the woods above Asheville, Shoji is a Japanese day spa that happens to offer three places to sleep — a loft, a lodge, and a studio. Guests stay a short walk from the soaking tubs and massage rooms that draw the spa's steady stream of visitors, with the forest doing most of the work of quieting things down. It's a small, singular operation: three keys, one bathing ritual, no lobby.
