Asheville, North Carolina
A laid-back hostel on West Asheville's Haywood Road, Bon Paul & Sharky's trades polish for easy company — unpretentious quarters, a shared lounge where conversation accumulates, and a communal kitchen for travelers cooking their own. Breakfast is included, and the 4.3-star consensus across nearly 300 guests suggests the welcome does most of the work.

A small hostel just north of downtown Asheville, The Lazy Tiger has earned a near-perfect reputation among the travelers who pass through — 164 reviews and not a wobble in the five-star average. The name alone signals the register: unfussy, unhurried, and run with enough care that guests keep saying so.
