Castle independent inns

A stately stone castle on Camden's High Street, The Norumbega trades in the kind of grandeur that feels lived-in rather than staged — refined rooms, a proper library for lingering, and communal decks angled toward the Maine air. Guests rate it 4.8 across more than 200 reviews, which says something about a place this idiosyncratic. It's a bed & breakfast with the bones of a manor house, minutes from the harbor town's center.
