Bistro independent inns

Set along the Ottauquechee just west of Woodstock village, this vintage-chic inn leans into its riverside setting with rooms that look out over the water. Mornings bring complimentary breakfast; later, a bistro and bar keep guests from having to venture far. Google listings also tie it to skiing, making it a practical base for Vermont's cold-weather pursuits.
