Activities independent inns

Set along Ocean Avenue where the Kennebunk River slides toward the sea, the Nonantum is a classic riverside resort of the old New England sort — rambling, social, and geared toward long summer days. A marina sits at its doorstep, with on-site restaurants and a roster of activities to fill the hours between, and the lawns pull double duty as a well-used wedding venue. Guests settle into rooms and suites that lean polished rather than rustic, and the steady 4.6 rating across more than 800 reviews suggests the formula works.
