Birchwood Lodge and Farmette
94% independentA working farmette just outside Camden village, Birchwood Lodge keeps things refreshingly plain: simple, unfussy rooms with the sweep of the ocean beyond the fields. Guests seem to find exactly what they came for — a 4.9 average across 51 reviews suggests the kind of place that earns its reputation on hospitality rather than polish. It's lodging in the older Maine sense, closer to a farmhouse welcome than a hotel check-in.
Why we call this independent
The name pairs a distinctive local identity with 'Farmette,' signaling a single owner-run property rather than a brand, and the single Camden address with no multi-location signals reinforces that. Google's own summary describes a 'straightforward lodge on a farm' with 'unpretentious rooms,' and the standalone .com domain and modest 51-review count fit a small independent operation.
