19 Broad
89% independentTucked into a historic building on Broad Street, at the heart of Charleston's old commercial spine, 19 Broad pairs a handful of guest rooms with a street-level coffee shop and sandwich counter — the kind of place where your morning cup is a flight of stairs away. The address itself is logged as a historical landmark, so the walls come with provenance, and the rest of the peninsula's cobbled blocks begin right outside the door. Reviews are few and opinions mixed, which suits a small, idiosyncratic operation more than a polished hotel.
Why we call this independent
The name is simply its street address rather than a corporate or branded pattern, it operates from a single historic landmark building with an attached coffee and sandwich shop, and only 13 reviews suggest a very small, independently run property with no multi-location chain signals.
